Café Oliver, a new restaurant and music venue located in the old Acadia Café spot on Franklin and Nicollet avenues, celebrates its grand opening the weekend of July 17-20. The remodeled space—which opens up the café area to the performance stage—will offer light breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pair your pastry, soup or sandwich with a cup of Peace Coffee or a selection from their beer and wine list. Then sit back, relax, and enjoy the sounds of local Minneapolis musicians.
Summertime is in full swing and so are local farmer’s markets. Pick up homegrown healthy foods and local arts and crafts at one of over a dozen fairs around town. No matter what day of the week, you can find fresh fare in Minneapolis. For example, visit Midtown Farmers Market for an early week fix on Tuesdays. Or head to downtown’s Nicollet Mall market on Thursdays. And don’t miss the selection at Mill City on Saturdays.
Now open in the Midtown Global Market, Jade Asian Bar and Restaurant offers a selection of classic and modern Cantonese and Sichuan cuisines—plus a sushi bar in the evenings. Lunches are quick and easy at their massive buffet, but come for dinner and stay awhile. Start with the deep-fried stuffed seafood tofu, and then try a few specialty sushi rolls or something from the live seafood tank.
Jasmine Deli—an Eat Street staple—provides authentic Vietnamese cuisine in an unassuming 9-table café. By popular demand, the owners have expanded and upgraded their presence with the opening of Jasmine 26. Just around the corner from the deli, this upscale version offers fancier fair in a larger, trendier locale.
